Rutilated quartz is a variety of quartz which contains fibrous needle-like inclusions of rutile. Rutile is an oxide mineral composed primarily of titanium dioxide. Each piece has fascinating inclusions with assorted rutile colors such as dark-red, metallic-gray, brownish-red, orange-red, reddish-black, golden-yellow, straw yellow, or rarely in a green shade. These inclusions can be thin, thick, criss-crossed or parallel, wispy or fat and add a great deal of character to each piece. Each piece is unique with its own charm.
